In the spring of 2020 the Village of Burns Lake and Lake Babine Nation partnered to complete a grant application for the Province of BC’s, Active Transportation Grant. The grant was approve and construction began in the late summer. The sidewalk has increased safety for pedestrians.
“Redesigning our community to promote active transportation took a giant leap forward with the awarding of the grant to the Village of Burns Lake and Lake Babine Nation. The connection of the downtown core to Woyenne Reserve via a sidewalk system will support to increase active transportation options for residents. The project will significantly improve safety and convenience for residents, including seniors living in Heritage Manor, and Tweedsmuir House and students attending one of the three schools in the community. On behalf of council, I would like to thank the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure through the Active Transportation Grant program for investing in Burns Lake.”
